8th ICACM | Hosei University

Advanced composites exhibit desirable physical and chemical properties that include light weight coupled with high stiffness (elasticity), and strength along the direction of the reinforcing fiber, dimensional stability, temperature and chemical resistance, flex performance, and relatively easy processing. Advanced composites are replacing metal components in many uses, particularly in the aerospace industry.

2025 8th International Conference on Advanced Composite Materials (ICACM 2025) will be held at Hosei University, Tokyo, Japan during August 26-29, 2025. The aim as well as objective of ICACM is to present the latest research and results of scientists related to Advanced Composite Materials topics.

ICACM provides a forum for accessing to the most up-to-date and authoritative knowledge from both industrial and academic worlds, sharing best practice in the field of Composite Materials, Materials Processing and Material Engineering. The meeting will provide an opportunity to highlight recent developments and to identify emerging and future areas of growth in this exciting field.

Special Session 1: Additively Manufactured Composite Materials and Structures

Advanced composite materials have the advantages of high specific strength, high specific modulus, and good designability, which are widely used in equipment manufacturing in aerospace, rail transportation, and other fields.
Additive Manufacturing (AM) technology uses the gradual accumulation of materials to manufacture physical parts, which is a "bottom-up" manufacturing method. Due to the "dimensionality reduction manufacturing" in the slicing process, the technology breaks through many limitations of traditional processing methods. In recent years, the use of additive technology to prepare composite materials represented by carbon fiber-reinforced composite materials, metal composites, and silicon carbide ceramics has been accepted by the industry, and it has become a trend to manufacture functional structures with acoustic, biological, and electromagnetic properties.
This symposium will report the most recent progress in various aspects of additively manufactured composite materials and structures, such as innovative design principles and methods of lightweight functional materials, performance optimization and structural characterization, new AM process and equipment, functional structure, and intelligent components in online or offline manner. The aim of this session is to capture the research community into a common forum to identify key challenges and opportunities, share state-of-the-art research, and promote advancements in research related to additively manufactured lightweight materials and structures. Both original research and review works are welcome.

Potential topics include but are not limited to:
• Design and optimization of novel composite materials and structures for AM
• Composite Properties and Characterization
• Fatigue, Fracture and Damage of Composites
• Application research of additive manufacturing composite materials, including continuous carbon fiber reinforced composites, metal composites, ceramic composites, polymer composites, etc.
